Having tested Nectar’s beds for well over six years, I’ve seen the brand’s overall progression, especially when it comes to the mattresses. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the last iteration of Nectar beds; they were all a bit too firm for my liking. When it was announced that Nectar was rebranding, I wasn’t expecting these new mattresses to turn heads — but I was dead wrong.
This new collection from Nectar is by far the best I’ve tested so far. At first glance, they look like modern, sleek beds, but then it gets better when you realize they now come in a variety of firmnesses, soft and firm. With the mid-tier options, Nectar kept the Premier branding and the middle-of-the-road firmness levels. In this review, I’ll cover who will love sleeping on this mattress and what makes the Premier Hybrid my favorite Nectar bed.
First impressions of the Nectar Premier Hybrid
This new Nectar mattress ships to you for free, inside a big, cardboard box — it’s pretty easy to tell it’s your Nectar bed, the box itself is like a giant logo. Once it arrives, all you need to do is unbox it, which is pretty easy to do solo, but even better if you have a friend there to help you. When we unboxed ours, we noticed a slight odor to the bed, but found it went away after a couple days.
It was also very soft right out of the box, so much so that we gave it a few nights to properly expand before testing it. Once it was fully inflated, it had firmed up quite a bit. The top layer of memory foam gives the bed plenty of pressure relief, while the coils on the bottom offer lots of support and pushback. Overall, I found the Nectar Premier Hybrid to offer the most even balance of comfort.
Nectar Premier Hybrid mattress firmness and feel
What does the Nectar Premier Hybrid feel like?
We’d say that the bed certainly has a memory foam quality. However compared to older mattress models from Nectar, it’s not quite as dense or viscous. When you hop on the bed, you’ll still get that slow-to-respond, sink-in sensation from the memory foam on top that conforms to your body’s shape. The coils on the bottom, though, give the bed more responsiveness, so moving around on the bed is relatively effortless.
This type of new-age memory foam feel is great to have in your mattress, especially if you’re a combination sleeper who moves around at night. Sometimes, dense memory foam beds like Tempur-Pedic can discourage movement since they’re designed to be viscous and slow to respond. Here, you get the best of both worlds, memory foam-wise.
How firm is the Nectar Premier Hybrid mattress?
Similar to the older model, this bed is still right at a true medium on our scale. This means it should be able to accommodate all sleep styles, including combination sleepers or couples who want something neutral in terms of firmness.
If you want a softer style of Nectar bed, the Nectar Luxe options both range around a medium-soft give or take, so these options are more suitable for accommodating strict side sleepers. The Nectar Classic beds provide much more rigid sleeping surfaces, perfect for primary back and stomach sleepers. Firmness-wise, Nectar has the whole spectrum covered.
Nectar Premier Hybrid mattress construction
This is a premium memory foam hybrid bed with a relatively simple construction. It’s 13 inches thick and comprised of the following layers:
1. On the bottom, you’ve got a thin layer of support foam that acts as a base for the bed’s main support system of pocketed coils. Those coils are extra-reinforced along the edges to provide a sturdy perimeter.
2. Then, you’ve got a responsive transition foam to act as a buffer between the support and comfort layers of the bed. It even has a Zoned-Support feature to help keep your back aligned at night.
3. Above that, you’ve got the bed’s main comfort layer. In this case, it’s around 2 inches of dense, viscous memory foam.
4. Rounding everything out is a breathable cooling cover with an intricate diamond pattern. It does feel cool to the touch, but not enough to make the bed actively cool; it should sleep temperature neutral to most.
Nectar Luxe Hybrid mattress performance
Motion isolation
We’d say this bed provides an exceptional amount of motion isolation, especially for a hybrid mattress. Instead of the support coils reverberating you or your partner’s movements at night, they adapt with them, and the top layer of memory foam absorbs tons of nightly motion as well. The only bed I could see performing better at motion isolation would be a more premium option from Tempur-Pedic, but that’s really splitting hairs — this mattress is great for light sleepers.
Edge-to-edge support
Going along with motion isolation, the Nectar Premier Hybrid also has excellent edge support. The two rows of coils that run along the bed’s edges are made of reinforced steel, designed to provide the bed with a sturdy perimeter. If you or your partner like to sleep close to the edges of your bed, willingly or unwillingly, you should experience plenty of support in this regard — there’s little to no roll-off sensation.
Temperature
The breathable fabric on this mattress cover does present sleepers with a slight cooling feature. Once you add your own bedding, though, I think both Nectar Premier mattresses will mainly sleep temperature neutral. If you’re looking for the coolest sleeping Nectar bed, I’d recommend checking out the Nectar Luxe beds. Still, it doesn’t hurt to have a cooling cover like this if you’re a bit of a hot sleeper.
Durability
Since this is a premium hybrid bed with reinforced edges, I’d say this bed is plenty durable to last most couples for several years. In the long run, hybrid mattresses typically last a bit longer than all-foam beds just because support foams can degrade slightly faster than coils, especially underneath much heavier people. Luckily, this bed’s hybrid design should be durable enough to last all body types for the next seven to 10 years — and that’s at the bare minimum.
Who is the Nectar Premier Hybrid mattress best for?
Though the bed’s design is durable enough to handle all body types, its neutral firmness profile might not be the ideal option for certain sleep styles. Here’s who we think this bed is best for.
Sleeping position
Since this mattress has a medium firmness profile, we’d mainly recommend it to combination sleepers who enjoy sleeping on their back, sides and stomachs, or couples who want a bed that has equal parts pressure relief and support. If you’re a back or stomach sleeper who wants more support from your bed, this might not be the most suitable option for you. Instead, you might want to check out the Nectar Classic beds. Conversely, if you want more pressure relief in your Nectar mattress, consider those Luxe beds instead.
Body type
As mentioned, the construction of this bed makes it supportive enough to handle all body types, including heavier people. If you’re more petite or average-sized, you could also get by on the Nectar Premier Hybrid, but the level of support could also be overkill for you. In that case, you could save some money by going with the all-foam version.
Nectar Luxe Hybrid mattress pricing

Twin | 38×75 inches | $1,116 |
Twin XL | 38×80 inches | $1,612 |

Nectar usually offers cash discounts on its mattresses year round, and depending on the time of year you decide to buy, you could also score yourself a free sleep bundle with the purchase of your bed.
Trial, shipping and warranty
Nectar backs this bed with some of the most generous policies found within the online mattress space. Its beds ship to you in a box for free, and once it’s in your possession, you get a 365-night trial period to try it at home risk-free. If you happen to not like it within that time frame, you can return it for free. On the other hand, if you decide to keep it, you’re backed by a forever warranty. Just be sure to use the right foundation for the bed because you could void your bed’s warranty.
How does Nectar Premier Hybrid compare to other mattresses?
Nectar Premier Hybrid vs. Nectar Premier Memory Foam
These are now the mid-tier mattresses within Nectar’s lineup. Both feature a very similar dense memory foam feel and range around a medium. However, they are slightly different in terms of specific firmness and construction. The Premier Hybrid obviously has support coils, whereas the Premier Memory Foam has dense foam for support. This makes the Hybrid version more supportive and durable for heavier people long-term. Additionally, the Premier Hybrid is also slightly softer at a proper medium, whereas the foam version is between that and a medium firm. Also, if you’re looking for a more affordable option, the Premier Memory Foam is the clear winner.
Nectar Premier Hybrid vs. DreamCloud Premier Hybrid
These are two premium options from Resident Home that are very similar in many respects. They’re both the mid-tier hybrid beds from both brands, featuring coils on the bottom for support. However, one major difference between them has to do with what’s used on top for comfort. The Nectar Premier Hybrid has a 3-inch memory foam layer, while the DreamCloud uses a quilted cover. This gives the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid much more of a luxurious aesthetic. The Nectar Premier Hybrid is also slightly softer, while the DreamCloud bed is a bit firmer and more responsive in terms of its memory foam feel. Both are priced the exact same after a discount for a queen size, so it really just comes down to the type of bed you’d prefer.
The final verdict
The Nectar Premier Hybrid is my personal favorite bed from this new launch. I think it provides the most even balance of comfort and support and is the most approachable bed when it comes to accommodating couples looking for a middle-of-the-road mattress.
I’d consider getting it if you want a supportive hybrid bed with a dense memory foam feel that’s around a medium, you like the sound of that Zoned-support feature and you want something that sleeps temperature neutral — not to mention, it’s a nice value for a hybrid bed.
You might like the Nectar Premier Hybrid mattress if:
- You want a supportive hybrid mattress
- You want a dense memory foam feel
- You like a bed that’s around a medium
- You want a bed with a Zoned-support feature
You might not like the Nectar Premier Hybrid bed if:
