When I first realized we were actually going to get a Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3+4 remake and watched the trailer, a surge of memories came rushing in from back in my PlayStation 1 and N64 days. Things didn’t look so great for a while, with reports hat THPS 3+4 was canceled, but thankfully, that has changed. The THPS 1+2 remake is a pleasure, and it’s a game that I escape to often if I just want to mess around and have some fun. If there’s one thing I’m excited about in THPS 3+4, it’s the remastered maps.
We already got a taste of what these would look like in the THPS 1+2 remake’s Burnside and Roswell parks, with Roswell being one of my personal favorites. There are so many more incredible maps from (arguably) the best entries in the franchise, though, such as the legendary Little Big World from THPS 4. With so many awesome levels in both games, it’s worth looking back to see which remade parks are going to be the most fun to shred in THPS 3+4.

Foundry: To Soak Or Not To Soak The Foreman?
Unjam The Valves & Grind The Molten Bucket
Foundry was one of the first levels available for most people when the demo for THPS 3 first came out, and it’s no different this time around. Foundry is the warehouse/factory map where you can grind the molten steel bucket, and it will be the first remade demo park in THPS 3+4. This park is a pure nostalgia trip for anyone who played the classic demo, and I’m excited to see it overhauled for new consoles.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 has been revealed with a release date, various editions, and new skaters – and pre-orders are already live.
Foundry has some incredible spots, particularly the spiral ramp to the secret area that you can grind or manual up/down if it doesn’t make you dizzy. You can also push the foreman into the pool of whatever that liquid is if you grind the right rail. The THPS 3+4 trailer definitely showcases a Foundry-esque level, leading me to believe this classic park will make a major comeback in the remake.

Canada: On Guard For Thee
Get Chuck Unstuck
Canada is a legendary THPS 3 map that will absolutely be making a comeback in the remake based on the blatant Canadian flag cameos in the trailer. From the winding wooden trails and tunnels through trees to the multi-level half-pipes and rail tracks, this map had a little something for everyone. Even more importantly, Chuck’s tongue is stuck to the poleand he absolutely needs some help.
If you have a good memory of the games, you’ll recall the bully under the tree heckling you, and one of the most memorable challenges is olleying off a half-pipe into a tree to cover him with snow. You also have to impress all the skaters standing around observing from the ramps. I can’t tell you how many times I fell into the river trying to nosegrind Around the Horn, and I’m looking forward to failing at it again this time around.

The Zoo: Don’t Feed The Animals!
Those Monkeys Are Flinging What Now?!
The Zoo from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 is based on the real-life London Zoo, and while it didn’t get an appearance in the THPS 3 + 4 trailer, I think it’s one of the maps I’m most excited for if it does indeed make it into the lineup. This is just an all-around fun level with all sorts of weird things going on, such as a raging elephant you can hop over to unlock a special area or the monkey flinging poo secret mini-game.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like Bam Margera will be a part of the THPS 3+4 remake, and it’s hard to say how they’ll deal with his absence.
It’s hard to say how exact the recreated maps will be, as there were definitely variations in many cases between the THPS 1+2 originals and the remakes. I’m also interested to see how they’ll handle the challenges from the originals, such as the Zoo’s bird challenge where Bam Margera tells you that the birds are going to yell out trick combos, which will require some adjustments without Bam’s inclusion.

Tokyo: Let’s Drift Baby
Maybe One Of The Best Secret Areas In The Franchise
Tokyo is a quintessential Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 map, and I expect it to be one of the most visually stunning parks in the revamped version. Tokyo is a vibrant neon city with some incredible rail combinations, and it conveys the sense that you can grind your way to infinite heights. This map has a secret area that makes it feel like you traveled inside a computer, and I’m hopeful they’ll bring this one back as close to the original as possible.

With the date now set for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 Remake, all you need to decide is if you will buy the standard or deluxe edition.
Personally, Tokyo is a favorite because of its “vertical” feel, meaning you can string together combos and travel upward in different places, more so than other maps. I’m 99% certain this will be included in the remake based on the various appearances in the new trailer, which is no surprise given how popular it was among the THPS 3 originals.

The Airport: Visit All 10 Countries
Careful, There Are Pickpockets In Terminal 2
The Airport from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 is another park that you’re definitely going to see remastered in the new game this summer, as it’s one of the featured parks in the trailer. This map had everything you’d expect from an airport skate park: security checks, public restrooms, baggage claim, random shopping stores and restaurants, etc. I had honestly forgotten about the Airport until I watched the trailer and remembered the Visit All Ten Countries challenge.
In the original games, you would stop and interact with people and skaters to collect “quests” of sorts, but this was changed in the remakes to consolidate things.
This is a challenge where you have to grind a rail and hit the flags from all ten countries in the Airport terminal, and I remember it specifically because it features a flag for America with the hilarious tag “Don’t Mess With Texas.” This map also has a variety of random pickpockets you have to run over, which might be on thinner ice when it comes to a remake appearance.

Alcatraz: Dunk The Tourists
Don’t Forget To Take The Alcatraz Tour
I have no clue if Alcatraz will make it into the remake, but it’s one of my absolute favorites. This is another level where Bam makes an appearance, giving you a quest to knock a bunch of tourists off the ledge into the ocean. This is one of the most fun challenges by far, and watching tourists go flailing into the ocean never gets old. Alcatraz also includes a tour of the prison-turned-tourist-attraction, with a quick-talking tour guide with a lot to say.
This map has a challenge to retrieve the guard’s keys, as well as a quest to help an inmate escape. There’s also Ranger Ron’s skitch launcha challenge that has you launch yourself as far into the ocean as possible off a particular ramp. For the cherry on top, you can actually go inside the prison and have inmates yell out tricks for you to complete.

Sewers: Cowabunga Dude!
Don’t Forget To Save The Rats
The Sewers from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 are another one I didn’t see in the trailer, but I’m extremely hopeful they’ll bring them back. Despite this being an underground park, you can get some serious air. The tunnels in the Sewers are awesome, and you can grind rails between the main sewer chamberswhich all have their own unique, massive bowls and half-pipes.

There are over 100 levels in the Tony Hawk series, and there is hardly a bad one amongst them, which makes the debate a much tougher argument.
The Sewers also include the Save the Rats challenge where you have to knock over all the rat poison down in the sewers, which was stored in barrels — a bit overkill, if you ask me. There’s also a HORSE challenge in this park where you have to string together a series of five different combos to unlock and spell HORSE.

The Cruise Ship: Attention Passengers
Faceplanting Is Strictly Prohibited
The Cruise Ship from THPS 3 is another skate park that’s definitely coming back in the remaster, and it’s among the best maps in the Tony Hawk franchise. It probably gets the most screen time of all the maps in the new trailer, leading me to believe that the remake has overhauled this one with some awesome new features. Comparing the original version to the trailer, there’s definitely been some work put into making this one pop.
The central water slide is bigger, more colorful, and looks like it’s located on an actual cruise ship deck. I can already tell this map is going to be a top contender among the best parks in the remake, and I’m most looking forward to traveling the different deck levels and experimenting with the variety of new rail transfers and pipe options.
2
Los Angeles: Don’t Get Starstruck
Start The Earthquake & Block The Car Chase
Los Angeles has some amazing rails and challenges and one of the best layouts in the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series. This one will for sure be making a comeback, as evidenced by the big Hollywood sign in the background during the trailer. The LA park features the earthquake rails that start an actual earthquake if you can grind all four. It also includes a challenge where you can knock the car off the bridge to stop the car chase.
Los Angeles is fun because it boasts so many different ways to get back and forth across the park, with tons of nooks to explore that connect with high wires. The trailer reveal of Los Angeles has me excited about how the game will adapt the old map onto the new platforms, and I’m hopeful they’ll bring back the Free Ballin’ challenge to knock loose all the balls in the park.

Little Big World: Clean Your Counters
Everything But The Kitchen Sink
I have no idea if Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 will bring this one back, but if they do, I hope they really improve the original idea. Little Big World was only available in the PS1 version of THPS 4, and while it’s an extremely fun level, it’s way too small. If they bring this park back, I’d love to be able to skate an entire kitchen, not just run the course from the kitchen sink to the windowsill.

Fans love the classics like Pro Skater 3 and Underground, and some even prefer Downhill Jam, but there isn’t a single Pro Skater 5 apologist.
The premise behind Little Big World is awesome, though, and there’s a ton of potential for it to be way better than it was in the original. Of all the maps I’d like to see remade, Little Big World is probably at the top of the list, but only if it’s bigger and better than its predecessor. Either way, I’m excited to start shredding THPS 3+4’s updated parks, and I might be equally excited to explore the new maps as well when Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 releases.
