MLB The Show 25 has confirmed over 20 new Legends ahead of its launch. With its yearly releases, MLB The Show attempts to present an up-to-date simulation of major league baseball, with new players constantly added, removed, or transferred. But it also attempts to allow fans to experience the history of baseball firsthand, creating otherwise impossible matchups and adding world-renowned players to their fantasy teams. That’s where the Legends mechanic comes in.
In MLB The Show, Legends are retired players who have made a name for themselves in the world of baseball. Among their number, you’ll find Babe Ruth, Jackie Robinson, Willie Mays, and many, many more. They’re among the most powerful players available in the game, and they can hold their own against even modern teams. Here are all the new and returning Legends in MLB The Show 25, and what to expect from the system in the latest game.
All New Legends Coming To MLB The Show 25
Three New Legends Have Been Confirmed
MLB The Show 25 originally confirmed three new legends in the first gameplay trailer, but it offered a more in-depth look in an updated Legends trailer for the game. Adding to the original reveals of Manny Ramirez, Roger Clemens, and James “Cool Papa” Bell are a whole host of legends new and old, building up to Ted Williams of Red Sox fame at the end of the trailer.
The full list of new legends revealed for MLB The Show 25 is available below. All three of these players will be available in the game at launch, and with no extra purchase or DLC required; they’re free to everyone.

Ted Williams spent nearly two decades playing for the Boston Red Sox, building a legacy as one of the best hitters in the game’s history. His .406 batting average in 1941 traditionally marked the last time any player officially finished a season with an average over .400, although the recent inclusion of Negro League achievements in official MLB stats recognizes Josh Gibson’s .466 season in 1943. Despite career breaks to serve in both World War II and the Korean War, Williams maintained a standard of exceptional stats across his entire career.

MLB The Show 25 Cutting Its Worst Diamond Dynasty Feature Might Actually Make Me Play It
MLB The Show is making a significant change to how Diamond Dynasty works by cutting its worst feature, and it’s just what I needed to try the mode.
Manny Ramirez is best known for his time playing for the Boston Red Sox, but he was already an All-Star by the time he transferred from Cleveland in 2001. Known for his incredible batting power, he was closely associated with teammate David Ortiz for their combined offensive skills. With the Red Sox, Ramirez made it to the World Series Championship in 2004. He later played for the Dodgers, White Sox, and Rays before his retirement in 2011.
Debuting with the Red Sox in 1984, Roger Clemens is often acknowledged as one of the greatest pitchers in MLB history. With a long and storied career, Clemens played for the Blue Jays, the Yankees, and the Astros over 21 years. He’s the recipient of an American League Cy Young Award, AL MVP, and All-Star Game MVP, and holds the MLB record for most batters struck out in a single game with 20.

MLB The Show 25’s recent trailer showed off some major gameplay innovations that could be the start of an exciting new direction for the series.
Although initially signed as a knuckleball pitcher, James “Cool Papa” Bell soon became better known for his speed and his ability to quickly run the bases. Bell was a two-time World Series champ and an eight-time All-Star, and also received a Ring of Honor from the Washington Nationals. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974, after also working as a scout for the St. Louis Browns.

Remember, these Legends must be unlocked by playing through Diamond Dynasty mode; once the player discovers their cards, they can begin adding them to teams. As in previous years, Legends may also be available as free agents in MLB The Show 25‘s Franchise mode.
Will More Legends Be Confirmed For MLB The Show 25?
The Roster Looks Complete
It’s probably best to assume that MLB The Show 25 has now revealed its complete roster of Legends for the game’s launch, as it’s already announced more than the 16 that MLB The Show 24 revealed for launch. With over 20 new additions, there’s plenty of room to spare when hitting the promised 200+ mark, a likely indicator that a few old Legends will be on their way out.
That being said, more Legends could always come as updates in the future, so it’s worth staying tuned after the release of MLB The Show 25 to see how the game progresses. While the overall roster will ultimately be similar to last year, the addition of Ted Williams and some other greats is nothing to sneeze at. MLB The Show 25 is continuing to grow its impressive hall of fame, and even if no fan agrees with the exact lineup of players that have been designated as Legends, there’s certainly no shortage of talent to be found in the lineup.
