In the first region, new banknotes have already been put into circulation.
“We cannot announce the quantity, but there will be a gradual renewal of old banknotes with new ones. This is not a quick process,” said Yulia Luzhnova, an expert at the Barnaul branch of the Bank of Russia.
In the Perm region, the new 5,000 will go into circulation through credit organizations. As the local branch of the Bank of Russia clarified, they will begin to appear more or less en masse in the region from November-December. Before this, bank specialists must prepare ATMs and other devices to work with updated banknotes.
It is noted that banknotes of the 1997 model will not be withdrawn from circulation; they will circulate along with the new ones for several more years, until the latter supplant them.
Let us recall that a little over a year ago the Bank of Russia introduced an updated design of banknotes in denominations of 1,000 and 5,000 rubles. The color design on them remains the same, but the attractions placed on the banknotes have changed. Thus, the thousand-ruble banknote is now dedicated to Nizhny Novgorod and the Volga Federal District, the five thousand – to Yekaterinburg and the Ural Federal District.
