Coral Spoke About Being Rejected In Her Career
During the Masked Singer premiere night, when Coral first came out on stage, Robin said that she had swag, and Jenny added that she was graceful. Coral sang a mystical version of “Mad World” by Tears for Fears. At the beginning of her clue package, Coral met her costume for the first time. She gushed that it was so pretty and sparkly, and that she couldn’t wait to wear it.
Coral said, “The Coral costume is so majestic, but she’s also got these hard, tough edges, the kind that’s strong and resilient. And that’s why I relate to her.” Coral was then shown sitting at a blue desk under the sea. She hammered on a model of a white house with an American flag flying in the front. This clue referred to Meg starring as Taylor Otto on the sitcom American Housewife from 2016-2021, beginning at the age of 16. Coral shared, “Ever since I was young, I dreamed of being a star. I asked everyone, ‘Please, please, please let me sing for you!’ But, for eight years, it was rejection after rejection.“
As Coral sank to the bottom of the ocean, she passed by a bubble with a computer screen with a broken heart displayed on it. This could be a reference to Meg’s song, “Digital Love.” Coral then continued to fall, saying, “I was this little girl struggling through the madness of the industry.” As her feet reached the ocean floor, Coral said, “Just as I was about to give it all up, a small victory turned into my voice being heard across the globe.”
